Latvian border guards received assistance from their Lithuanian counterparts.
Thirteen foreigners who had entered the country from Belarus were tracked down and detained by border guards in Latvia. Border guards from Lithuania assisted their Latvian counterparts in detaining them, according to the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service.
On the evening of September 17, a group of 13 people illegally crossed the Belarusian-Latvian border. Lithuanian K-9 handlers with service dogs were dispatched to the scene.
They spotted five people on Latvian territory, approximately 300 meters from the Lithuanian-Latvian state border. The detainees were handed over to Latvian border guards.
Latvian border guards detained the other eight border violators themselves.
