The electric vehicle market is expanding rapidly, and as the number of models grows, the issue of their long-term reliability is becoming increasingly important. In 2026, models from Ford, Volvo, Porsche, and Hyundai made the list of the most reliable vehicles.
Some of them have significantly improved their performance compared to previous years, while others continue to receive consistently high ratings, experts note SlashGear. At the same time, when choosing an electric vehicle, it’s important to consider not only reliability ratings but also maintenance costs, range, and potential recall campaigns.
Ford F-150 Lightning
Just a few years ago, the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck had serious reliability issues. In a 2024 Consumer Reports study, the model scored only 28 out of 100 and ranked among the least reliable vehicles.
The situation changed significantly the following year. In the 2025 overall Ford vehicle reliability rankings, the brand scored 48 points, while the F-150 Lightning scored 45 points. The electric pickup is no longer on Consumer Reports’ 2026 list of unreliable cars.
The F-150 Lightning’s last model year was 2025, as Ford first scaled back production and then discontinued the model. At the same time, new units may still be available at dealerships, and vehicles with low mileage can be found on the used car market.
The 2025 model had a maximum range of about 563 km, and the starting price was $65,190, including delivery.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
Despite the name Mustang, the Mach-E is an electric crossover that Ford unveiled in late 2019, and the model went on sale as a 2021 model year vehicle. Despite its atypical format for a Mustang, the model has gradually established itself among popular electric vehicles.
In J.D. Power surveys, the Mustang Mach-E has consistently achieved high scores over the past several years. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, it ranked among the top three, and after a dip in 2025, it climbed back to the top of the 2026 rankings.
An additional indicator of owner loyalty is the high level of satisfaction: about nine out of ten owners surveyed said they would recommend this car to others. According to the Auto Reliability Index, the 2026 model scored 74 out of 100 for reliability.
The base version of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E is equipped with a 72 kWh battery and a single electric motor producing approximately 264 l.s. The range is approximately 402 km. The base price is $37,795, plus a $2,045 delivery fee.
Volvo EX30
The compact Volvo EX30 is the successor to the XC40 Recharge concept—a fully electric version of the brand’s compact SUV. The model debuted in 2023 and experienced a number of technical issues at launch, but the manufacturer subsequently resolved most of these issues.
In the 2026 J.D. Power survey, the EX30 scored 71 out of 100, with a reliability score of 63. It scored 86 points for driving performance and 67 points for residual value.
The base model costs about $40,345, including the delivery fee. This is a fairly high price for a compact crossover, although Volvo enthusiasts traditionally value the quality of the interior and safety systems.
At the same time, when purchasing an EX30, it’s essential to check the specific vehicle’s history. A significant number of these cars were subject to a recall due to a risk of battery fire. Therefore, buyers should ensure that the necessary repairs have already been completed.
Porsche Taycan
This is a four-door car designed as an alternative to the brand’s traditional sports and executive models. Its high reliability ratings are particularly noteworthy, given the car’s complex design and premium status.
At the same time, low operating costs are not the Taycan’s main advantage. Once the warranty period expires, maintenance, parts, and services from specialized technicians can cost significantly more than for mass-market electric vehicles.
According to J.D. Power, the 2026 Taycan scored 75 out of 100 for reliability, 86 for driving experience, and 76 for residual value. The model’s overall rating was 81 out of 100.
Consumer Reports also notes the Taycan as a serious competitor to the Tesla Model S. At the same time, sales of the Taycan Cross Turismo station wagon are gradually being phased out in the U.S., although this version remains available in other markets.
Hyundai IONIQ 6
This sleek sedan debuted in 2022. The model also received a sport version, the IONIQ 6 N; however, the standard IONIQ 6 was discontinued for the 2026 model year.
That is why there are no current reliability ratings for the standard 2026 IONIQ 6. Nevertheless, the results for the previous version remain indicative: the 2025 model received 72 out of 100 points for reliability, 79 points for driving experience, and 70 points for residual value. The overall score was 73 points.
New or nearly new 2025 model-year cars could still be found at dealerships. They may also be available on the used car market at a more attractive price.
