Residents of the Borisov District have been asked not to go into the forest.
Residents of the Borisov District have been asked to exercise extra caution in the forest due to a bear that was wounded during a hunt, according to "Adzinstvo".
The incident occurred on August 8 in the hunting grounds of the “Borisov MROS RGOO ‘BOOR’” organization near the village of Gorely Lug. A bear was wounded during the hunt, but the hunters were unable to capture it. The wild animal fled into the forest and remains there to this day.
Residents of the area are asked to exercise caution and vigilance when visiting the forest and, if possible, to temporarily avoid going into the woods in this area.
BOOR told *Minskaya Pravda* that the situation is under control and that the forest areas have been thoroughly searched. However, the organization cannot confirm that the predator has died:
“The injury was not life-threatening. Judging by the initial footage (video from the scene), the animal was hit in the leg. The animal continues to move around, which means it is going about its normal life. This is comparable to a person pricking their foot: there is some discomfort, but it does not significantly affect survival.”
They emphasized that a typical encounter with this bear in the forest would be exactly the same as with any other: the bear will try to get away.
As a reminder, the hunting season for bears of any sex and age began on July 1 and will last until December 31. This year, 445 bears were counted in the BOOR hunting reserves. Of these, 35 may be hunted.
