But there are some nuances.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has lifted the restrictions that had been in place against Belarusian and Russian basketball players; however, clubs and national teams from both countries remain suspended from participating in official tournaments. The decision was made in accordance with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee.

The lifting of restrictions applies to all players, coaches, referees, and other officials in both 5×5 and 3×3 basketball.

“Russian and Belarusian players will be able to participate, and officials will be able to be appointed to all FIBA competitions; the decision takes effect immediately,” the FIBA statement reads.

The federation also noted that it intends to work closely with the IOC and Olympic federations to resolve logistical and security-related issues concerning the possible return of club teams and national teams from Belarus and Russia to competition.
