A National Security Council Meeting Was Convened In Sweden

Following Berlin's statements directed at Russia.

A meeting of the National Security Council was held in Sweden in response to the German government’s statement regarding Russia’s involvement in the appearance of a drone carrying explosives at Leipzig Airport.

This was reported by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Christersson stated that a meeting of the National Security Council had just concluded in Stockholm; the decision to convene the meeting was made following Germany’s statement holding Russia responsible for the failed drone attack at Leipzig Airport.

“At the meeting, Sweden’s military intelligence and security service shared their assessment of the Russian hybrid threat to Sweden with the government. The government believes that the events in Leipzig should be viewed as part of Russia’s increasingly active hybrid operations, characterized by growing recklessness and indifference,” the Swedish prime minister stated.

“The goal of Russia’s actions is to undermine European support for Ukraine, increase pressure on our societies, and sow division and fear. But Russia will not succeed,” Kristersson added.

As a reminder, on September 1, Germany directly accused Russia of a hybrid attack at Leipzig Airport in early August and announced retaliatory measures, including the closure of the Consulate General in Bonn and the “Russian House” in Berlin. In connection with this, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul summoned the Russian ambassador.

The EU and several member states also summoned Russian diplomats over the incident in Leipzig.
