There are injured people.

The SBU has revealed additional details of the special operation that thwarted a terrorist attack by Russia’s FSB against one of the leaders of the Russian opposition political national movement. This was reported by SBU and Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

As part of the pretrial investigation, SBU officers conducted urgent investigative actions to collect and secure evidence.

During a search at one of the addresses in Kyiv, a group of individuals carried out an armed attack on the operational-investigative team in an attempt to obstruct the investigative actions. The attackers also blocked the law enforcement officers’ passage with their vehicles.

A special unit from the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center was deployed to stop the attack and ensure the safety of those involved in the investigative proceedings.

Law enforcement officers used firearms to suppress armed resistance. As a result, some of those who resisted were wounded. All the attackers were detained.

Preliminary investigative actions have established that the detainees belong to one of the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Weapons and documents were seized from them. The full circumstances of the incident and the role of each participant are currently being determined, and the final legal classification of their actions is being decided.

Under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General, a pretrial investigation has been launched into threats and an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer. The investigation is ongoing.
