In Russia, Schoolchildren Attacked Fellow Students And Teachers With Knives Three Times In Two Days

On the morning of September 2, at School No. 1392 named after D. V. Ryabinkin in New Moscow, a student attacked a teacher with a knife. The school’s principal, Denis Bakharev, clarified that the attacker was a teenager “with special health needs” and was subdued by security guards. The teacher sustained “superficial injuries” and is receiving medical care. An internal investigation has been launched.

Eyewitnesses told “Be Careful, Moscow” that the teacher was attacked by an eighth-grader who had previously been held back a year. According to the channel, the victim was a social studies teacher who also teaches Russian language and literature.

Also on September 2, a knife attack occurred at a gymnasium in the village of Kushnarenkovo in Bashkortostan. After the first class, one of the ninth-graders injured a classmate. The victim was hospitalized in moderate condition, according to the head of the Kushnarenkovo District Marat Latypov. The attacker was detained. Bashkortostan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ural Kilsenbaev stated that a conflict arose between the ninth-graders during class due to personal disagreements. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case for attempted murder.

This is already the third attack in Russian educational institutions over the past two days. On September 1, at School No. 2 in Kansk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, a seventh-grader sprayed pepper spray and attempted to stab a teacher with a knife during a back-to-school assembly. As a result, seven people were injured, including five children. A criminal case has been opened.
