The eight-year-aged "Yerevan" has been banned.

Armenian "Yerevan" cognac was found to lack the necessary qualities to be considered a full-fledged cognac, reported the State Standards Agency.

The eight-year-old Armenian cognac “Yerevan” has been banned from sale in Belarus.

The reason is that this beverage was found to contain fewer tannins than the standards require for cognac—only 0.14 g instead of the minimum 0.3 g per liter.

The sales ban will take effect on September 3.
