The moment was caught on video.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stopped outside a supermarket to listen to a performance by a street musician from Belarus, Tima Suladze, and tossed him a coin.
The artist posted a video of the encounter on his Threads account.
The Lithuanian leader also took a selfie with the artist.
“I really want to live in a country and be a citizen of a country where you can run into the president in a store, where he’ll stop to listen to my music and agree to take a selfie with me. It will soon be six years since I’ve been living in Lithuania, and the fact that I ended up here in the winter of 2021 was the best gift that life and fate have given me. Before that, I lived in various countries—in fact, I’ve been a migrant my whole life—but it is in Lithuania that I want to stay and put down roots,” Tim Suladze captioned his video.
