After stepping down as CEO, he will receive $47 million.
Apple approved a $47 million compensation package for 2027 for Tim Cook, who stepped down as CEO on September 1 and became executive chairman of the board of directors. This was reported by Financial Times.
Cook’s compensation package, totaling $47 million, consists of a salary and stock. Cook’s annual salary in his new role will be $2 million, with stock-based compensation totaling $45 million. This is 20% less than his salary and stock-based compensation for 2025, when he was still CEO, the FT notes.
According to the newspaper, the position of executive chairman of the board of directors was created specifically for Cook. Arthur Levinson, the long-time non-executive chairman of the board, became lead independent director and received $557,000 for fiscal year 2025. Apple previously announced that Cook would assist in specific areas, including engaging with policymakers around the world.
Meanwhile, John Turnus, who succeeded Cook, could receive a potential compensation package of $58 million if he meets performance targets in 2027, the FT notes. Bloomberg reported that the new CEO will receive an annual salary of $3 million and a stock grant with a target value of $55 million next year.
Cook’s compensation package is approaching that of Turnus, which underscores his significant role for the company in his new position, the FT reports.
