Sirens Will Sound In Western Belarus

Residents were warned about large-scale evacuation drills.

Residents and visitors to the Prineman region have been warned that sirens will sound in the region this coming week, according to autogrodno.by.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations also asked people to pay attention to safety alerts from security systems at businesses and organizations.

According to the website, a Unified Safety Day will take place on September 24 in all districts of the Grodno Region, including the regional capital. Sirens will sound there as part of a technical test of the warning system.

“In Grodno, the main venue for the events will be the ‘Flamingo’ shopping center on Olha Solomova Street. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,” the announcement states.

Residents are advised to check the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ interactive map to find out where events will take place in their area.

“A key role has been assigned to the heads of institutions, organizations, and enterprises of all forms of ownership. They are responsible for conducting evacuation drills, verifying staff readiness, ensuring the proper functioning of fire safety equipment, and confirming the accessibility of emergency exits,” noted the rescue workers.

Participants are encouraged to reinforce what they’ve learned through workshops and training sessions at interactive venues.
