Putin's Scam

It's a dump that you should stay away from.
Final figures from the recent electoral scam in Russia are meaningless—all the results of this charade were predetermined. What matters is this: the main goal for Putin and his cronies this time was voter turnout—and they made no secret of it. It must be said that the Russian opposition did everything in its power to boost that turnout. It is disheartening to see how the lack of a real agenda and the inability to influence the process are forcing our colleagues to throw themselves headlong into the fraudulent schemes of the fascist dictatorship, helping it achieve the desired result.
The continuation of the so-called “Smart Voting” strategy—all this nonsense, which serves as a cover for the desire to remain on the grant roll—is no longer merely a pretense of activity, but an endeavor that causes colossal harm. Unlike previous episodes of political idiocy into which the Russian opposition has fallen over the years, today we are talking about aiding in the justification of genocide in Ukraine and the legalization of the fascist regime’s seizure of Ukrainian territories. This is the very point that Putin and Russian propaganda have emphasized, openly declaring that these “elections” are intended to cement the incorporation of Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories.
Attempts to lure people into participating in Putin’s “electoral” scam exploit the natural desire of ordinary people to express their outrage in some way. There are many such people, and their desire is understandable. However, encouraging people to go to the polls and thereby boost voter turnout is direct support for the regime. For a dictatorship, recognition of its right to conduct such procedures is of fundamental importance. Playing by its rules means recognizing its legitimacy.
Putin’s procedures are a “celebration” at which we are outsiders. It is a plague-ridden barracks from which one should stay as far away as possible. The only thing the Russian opposition must truly do to be called an opposition is to help Ukraine defeat and destroy this regime.
