Medvedev Unexpectedly Lashed Out At Marine Le Pen's Party

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Security Council called the “National Union” a typical Russophobic party.

Dmitry Medvedev , Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council , described Marine Le Pen’s “National Rally” as a “typical European party.” According to him, the party also promotes Russophobia and supports the Ukrainian leadership.

Medvedev made these remarks in response to Marine Le Pen’s criticism of the Russian dictator’s decree transferring the assets of the French retailer Auchan (the “Auchan” brand), the Swiss food manufacturer Nestlé, and the French logistics group FM Logistic. She stated that her party views this move as one of Moscow’s “hostile actions” and “hybrid operations.”

“Thousands of sanctions against Russians in France, plus missiles for the Kyiv scum—are these friendly moves? It seems Le Pen’s party has now become a typical European party: Russophobia and support for the Nazis in Kyiv,” Medvedev lamented on social media platform X.

On September 17 Vladimir Putin transferred Russian assets belonging to Nestlé, FM Logistic, “Leman Pro,” and Auchan to the temporary management of “L.E.V. Management.” The Kremlin noted that the decision to place the assets under external management was made on the grounds that they belonged to companies from an unfriendly country.

It should be noted that Marine Le Pen’s party, the “National Rally,” has long been labeled pro-Russian due to its longstanding political and financial ties with Moscow; however, its leaders are now changing their rhetoric.
