The U.S. Has Deployed A New Military Contingent To Lithuania

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda announced that the U.S. has deployed a new military contingent to Lithuania. His remarks were reported by his press office.

“A new contingent of U.S. troops is on its way to Lithuania. We are grateful to U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. administration for this decision, which is important for the security not only of Lithuania but of the entire region,” the Lithuanian leader said.

Since 2019, a U.S. Army heavy battalion consisting of about 1,000 personnel, equipped with Abrams tanks, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and Paladin artillery systems, has been stationed in Lithuania on a rotational basis. In November 2024, Washington decided to make the rotation permanent, meaning it would continue without breaks between shifts. However, in early June, the United States withdrew this battalion from Lithuania and made no further statements regarding the future of its presence there.
