Former CEO Of A Meat-processing Plant Sentenced To Seven Years In Prison

The Supreme Court handed down a verdict against the former CEO of a meat processing plant, who was accused of accepting bribes on an exceptionally large scale, as reported by "Zerkalo".
According to the prosecution, from July 1, 2019, to May 28, 2025, the defendant received bribes totaling 1.8 million rubles from the heads of private organizations. The illegal payments were made to him in cash and cryptocurrency “for organizing the procurement of complex dietary supplements and ensuring their continued use in the meat processing plant’s production activities.”
The court found the man guilty of accepting bribes on a large and especially large scale. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 5,000 base units (225,000 rubles). He was also barred for five years from holding positions involving organizational, managerial, administrative, or economic responsibilities.
In determining the sentence, the court took into account that the former head of the meat processing plant voluntarily repaid the proceeds obtained through criminal activity.
The verdict has not yet become final and may be appealed.
The press release from the Prosecutor General’s Office does not disclose which meat processing plant the defendant headed. However, the supervisory agency had previously reported that it had referred a criminal case to court against the former CEO of OJSC “Grodno Meat Processing Plant,” who was charged with accepting bribes in cryptocurrency and cash totaling 1.8 million rubles.
As a reminder, until the end of October 2025, the CEO of OJSC “Grodno Meat Processing Plant” was Oleg Ivanov. He was also a member of the “Council of the Republic.” Oleg Ivanov lost his “senatorial” seat at the end of October 2025. His powers as a member of the “Republic Council” were terminated early “in connection with a written statement by the ‘deputy’ of the ‘Chamber of Representatives’ and member of the ‘Republic Council’ regarding his resignation for personal reasons.”
