U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed the situation in Ukraine during a meeting at the White House.

It is noted that at the White House, the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on global and regional issues, such as the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Korean Peninsula.

They also reaffirmed their mutual support for holding regional meetings in the coming weeks.

In addition, Xi stated that the presidents agreed to foster “constructive, strategic, and stable relations between China and the United States.” According to him, such relations will benefit not only the Chinese and American peoples, but also people around the world.

It is noted that in November, China will host the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, while the U.S. will host the G20 summit in Florida this year.

It should be noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Trump during talks with the Chinese leader to urge him to exert influence on Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin with the aim of ending the war or, at the very least, de-escalating the conflict.

Trump also stated that he would discuss the “Graham Act” with Xi, which, among other things, concerns sanctions against Russia and “punitive tariffs” on buyers of Russian energy resources.
