Lithuania Is Conducting Drills Simulating An Invasion From Belarus

The "Vitis Dome 2026" mobilization exercises have begun in the country.

The annual "Vytis Dome 2026" mobilization exercises have begun in Lithuania. Their goal is to test the country's readiness to respond to a deteriorating security situation and to transition to a mobilization regime in the event of war. This was reported by LRT.

The exercises will last until October 3. Approximately 3,000 representatives from government agencies, state institutions, businesses, and nongovernmental organizations, as well as about 1,000 volunteers, will participate.

The drills also include the evacuation of residents of Vilnius and municipalities near the Belarusian border, based on a scenario of a potential military invasion by Belarus.

On September 29, authorities will test public alert systems—including sirens, emergency alerts sent to cell phones, and the LT72 app—to verify emergency preparedness.
