Ukrainian Armed Forces Strike Shuts Down Ilsky Oil Refinery: New Details Of The Attack

Several crude oil refining facilities have been damaged.

On September 26, the Ilsk Oil Refinery halted operations following a strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This time, several primary oil refining units were hit, but they were not the only ones, according to RBC-Ukraine reports, citing a statement from Fire Point.

The company’s press service reported that FP-1 UAVs were used during this airstrike on the enemy facility. This refers to a Ukrainian long-range strike drone designed to engage targets at significant distances.

The FP-1’s range is estimated at approximately 1,600 km, although specific characteristics may vary depending on the variant and payload.

The payload of this drone can weigh up to several hundred kilograms. The FP-1 is used primarily to strike military and fuel-and-energy infrastructure facilities within the territory of the Russian Federation.

“As a result of the attack, three primary oil refining units and a tank farm were destroyed. Operations at the oil refinery have been suspended,” Fire Point reported.

It is important to note that the attack on the Ilsky Oil Refinery, located in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, took place last night. The fact of an airstrike on the enemy facility has already been confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ilsky Oil Refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 6.6 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The refinery handles the receipt, storage, and processing of raw materials, as well as the production and shipment of petroleum products.

The General Staff notes that the company’s products are also used to meet the needs of the Russian Federation’s armed forces.
