"Freedom For Belarus": A Solidarity Rally For Political Prisoners Was Held In Szczecin

There are more prisoners of conscience in Belarus than human rights activists are aware of.

A solidarity rally took place in downtown Szczecin, Poland, on Sunday, September 27. Participants unfurled white-red-white flags and chanted “Long live Belarus!”, “Freedom for Belarus!”, and “Freedom for political prisoners.”

The organizers of the rally pointed out that there are more prisoners of conscience in Belarus than human rights activists are aware of.

“The repression in Belarus will not stop as long as the regime remains in power,” they told the “Basta!” Telegram channel . “Every day, news emerges of new political prisoners detained for ‘insulting Lukashenko,’ ‘aiding an extremist organization,’ or ‘treason.’ At the same time, there is neither accurate data on the number of trials in “political” cases nor reliable information about the sentences handed down. And the issue here is not that the situation in Belarus has changed for the better, but rather that all such information is classified whenever possible.
