Zelenskyy Promised Russia Retaliation For The Attack On The National Academy Of Sciences Of Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to strike by Russian occupiers on the building of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in central Kyiv and other attacks by the Russian Federation on Monday, September 28.

According to him, a rescue operation is currently underway at the site of the strike.

“All emergency services are on the scene. Today, a pharmaceutical company and gas stations were attacked in Kyiv, a business center in Dnipro, and civilian facilities, businesses, and communications infrastructure in other cities and regions as well. Unfortunately, there have been fatalities… My condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims,” Zelenskyy’s statement reads.

The president emphasized that Ukraine’s response to Russia is inevitable.

“And each of Ukraine’s partners must recognize, in light of this terror and these attacks, that support for Ukraine is truly support for people’s lives—support for the principle that terror must never, anywhere, be normalized. Russia must be held accountable for all of this and face real consequences,” the Ukrainian leader stressed.

Following overnight and morning attacks on September 28, Russia continued to strike Kyiv with jet-powered drones during the day. In particular, a Russian jet-powered UAV struck the main building of the National Academy of Sciences in the historic center of Kyiv.
