Lamborghini believes that speed alone will soon be insufficient for a car to be considered a true supercar. The reason lies in the rapid development of electric vehicles, which are already capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in a matter of seconds, writes Motor1.

One of the company’s directors, Paolo Raccetti, stated that the traditional race for the best acceleration times is losing its meaning. According to him, even ordinary electric sedans and crossovers can deliver performance that was previously considered the exclusive domain of supercars.

At the same time, Lamborghini is not turning its back on electrification. The Revuelto, Temerario, and Urus SE have been equipped with hybrid powertrains, while the brand’s first all-electric model has been postponed indefinitely.

However, the company has no plans to bring back the manual transmission. Raccetti noted that fans of traditional Lamborghinis will surely ask for such a version, but the brand intends to move forward.

Lamborghini believes that future supercars will have to offer buyers not just top speed, but a unique driving experience. The engine’s sound, high RPMs, handling, and the car’s character should all contribute to this.
