Famous Croatian soccer player and sporting director of Donetsk’s “Shakhtar” Dario Srna spoke about the brawls that occurred during matches.

The “Miners’” sports director shared his memories of clashes with Dynamo players—Belarusian-Ukrainian soccer player Artem Milevskyi, Alexander Aliyev, and Yevhen Khacheridi.

“There were serious fights with both Milevskyi and Aliyev. But you can’t get anywhere without them. It’s through the scuffle itself that you show, ‘I’m here.’ You won’t beat me like that, Milevskyi—that’s for sure. There’s no other way. You have to amp up the energy. Sometimes I staged a lot of fake scuffles. He wouldn’t touch me; I’d fall down. Then I’d call for the doctor. It was all part of the game. After the game, we hugged and called each other.”

Srna said there were real fights too—with Milevskyi, with Aliyev, and with Khacheridi.

Well… There are fights you don’t see, you know? Stepping on someone’s Achilles tendon with your cleats during a corner kick, grabbing them by the stomach, or even—I don’t know where.
