Lukashenko Ordered Cars To Be Removed From Minsk Courtyards

The dictator wants to "breathe in nature."

During a meeting on September 3 with Vladimir Kukharev, chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee , Lukashenko came up with yet another “brilliant” idea—to remove cars from the courtyards of residential buildings so that people could finally “breathe in the fresh air.” This was reported by BelTA.

The president admitted that the sight of cars parked in courtyards makes a “horrifying impression” on him. “There’s a house, with a park in front of it all the way to the street—that’s nice, that’s beautiful. But that’s a rarity. In other cases, it’s an ocean of cars. Dirty in some places, grimy. Well, it’s not very pretty when a building is buried in a line of these cars,” he lamented, clearly without giving any thought to where these very cars in the courtyards come from in the first place or why people have no other options for parking them.

At the same time, the official himself suggested taking action not through bans, but “gradually.”

Lukashenko, as usual, did not specify exactly how thousands of Minsk residents—who simply have no alternative places to park their cars—are supposed to solve this problem, nor who will pay for the construction of new parking lots “further away.”
