During the exercises, they are practicing a scenario that has become a meme among Belarusians.

The Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting a large-scale inspection of the combat readiness of security forces in the Vitebsk region. The results of this “large-scale inspection” will assess the security forces’ readiness “to operate under special conditions,” with the goal of “identifying problem areas,” said Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov.

According to the ministry’s press service, Deputy Minister and Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nikolai Karpenkov stated that as part of the inspection, “a series of training exercises are being conducted in the Vitebsk region.”

One of the scenarios is as follows: in Liozno and Dubrovno, “authorities are searching for unknown individuals with backpacks who left objects on the railroad tracks.” Special-purpose units of the Internal Troops, “Vityaz” and “Lynx,” have been deployed to search for them. Efforts are primarily focused on “surveying the railroad tracks and surrounding area using UAVs, foot patrols, and mobile units.”

Another alert “contains information about suspects traveling in two off-road vehicles without license plates.” According to the scenario, “there is information that they intend to breach the state border”.

As a reminder, in 2021, a film was shown on Belarusian television claiming that the Belarusian opposition, supported by NATO countries, had allegedly developed a large-scale plan for a military coup. One of the central and most discussed elements of this scenario was the story about a plan to breach the border from the Lithuanian side using “150 off-road vehicles (jeeps)” equipped with large-caliber machine guns. The phrase about the jeeps instantly became a popular meme on social media and in independent media outlets.
