Production Of Long-range UAVs For Ukraine Has Begun In Germany

Kyiv will receive more than 5,000 drones.

In Germany, near Munich, mass production has begun on more than 5,000 long-range combat drones intended for Ukraine.

This was reported on September 3 by the German publication Handelsblatt.

According to media reports, the manufacturers—the German-American defense company Auterion and its Ukrainian joint-venture partner Airlogix—have already produced the first drones.

“The order from the German federal government is to be fulfilled by mid-2027. According to industry sources, the contract is worth about 300 million euros. These drones are part of Germany’s support for Ukraine,” the publication writes.

Representatives of the joint venture, which was founded as recently as February 2026, stated that they expect follow-up orders and long-term cooperation.

“In addition to an unnamed facility near Munich, production is planned to be set up at another facility in eastern Germany. We’re talking about two different models—one has a medium range, and the other has a long range, up to 1,500 kilometers. The drone is designed to ensure it reaches its target even in the face of electronic countermeasures,” the publication writes.

As part of the project, responsibilities are divided as follows: Auterion supplies the software, including the operating system, while Airlogix provides the hardware, writes Handelsblatt.

“Germany now has a production line for manufacturing affordable, high-precision weapons in large quantities. “Later this year, we will begin delivering tried-and-tested systems—at a price and production rate that truly allow for the creation of large stockpiles for deterrence,” Auterion CEO Lorenz Meyer told the publication.

According to Airlogix CEO Vitaliy Kolesnichenko, this partnership brings together “what neither company could have achieved on its own.”

“Our battle-tested drones, combined with Auterion’s autonomous software and Germany’s industrial capabilities,” he said.
