Lukashenko Is Puzzled By Salaries In Minsk

The dictator fears that inflation will accelerate.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed concern over rising wages in Minsk and urged that they not be “pushed too hard” so as not to trigger a surge in inflation. He made this statement during a meeting with Vladimir Kukharev, chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, who presented a report, according to the dictator’s press service.

Vladimir Kukharev reported that, based on the results of the first half of the year, the average salary in Minsk reached 3,878 rubles. To which Lukashenko responded:

“We need to maintain this level, but not push it too hard. Because salaries—huge sums of money—will sooner or later lead to inflation. And inflation in Minsk will spread throughout the entire country; we’ll end up ‘eating away’ at that money.”

The usurper is concerned that salaries might rise while production is falling.

— But we need to keep an eye on this—to ensure that labor productivity remains high. And we must make up for it at the expense of enterprises that are underperforming.

“The main principle is that money must be earned,” Kukharev replied. — We’re maintaining the ratio (of wage growth relative to labor productivity growth—Ed.) to prevent any disruptions in the foreign exchange market, because that would lead to inflation.
