The Spanish foreign minister stated that Madrid will continue to support Kyiv.

Spain will continue to supply Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense systems to protect its airspace from Russian ballistic attacks.

This was announced by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, according to Le Monde.

The Spanish foreign minister reaffirmed Madrid’s unwavering support during an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Ireland.

“We have been doing this for a long time and will continue to do so,” Albares emphasized.

The statement comes amid persistent calls from Kyiv to bolster its air defense arsenal, which is necessary to intercept enemy ballistic missiles.

Albares also reaffirmed this commitment to expanded support during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.

During the talks, the Spanish diplomat confirmed an increase in missile deliveries and emphasized Madrid’s commitment to the new Coalition for the Defense of Ukraine, of which Spain became a co-founder in late August.

In addition to the direct transfer of anti-aircraft munitions and the training of Ukrainian technicians by Spanish military specialists, Spain is also working to replenish its own arsenals.

Madrid recently signed a major contract worth $1.7 billion with the American company Raytheon.

The agreement provides for the modernization of existing Patriot systems, some of whose components are manufactured directly in Spain by the company Sener.
