Belgium Will Transfer Three F-16 Fighter Jets To Ukraine

Ukraine has reached an agreement with Belgium to transfer three F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv by the end of 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday, September 29.

“We will expedite the process of receiving these aircraft. We have already received urgent deliveries of ammunition for the F-16s from Belgium and other countries, particularly Spain,” - he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zelenskyy thanked Prime Minister Bart De Wever and the Belgian government “for their decisive steps in support of Ukraine in response to Russia’s brutal attacks.”

“As Russia escalates the conflict with each passing day, we must expand our capabilities to shoot down aerial targets and protect people,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

Western fighter jets are a vital part of Ukraine’s air defense system amid Russia’s ongoing military aggression, and the loss of every F-16 is a significant blow to Kyiv.
