A fire broke out on the aircraft apron.

Ukrainian drones attacked a military airfield in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, in the Russian Federation. This was reported by the military portal "Military", citing data from NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service.

It is noted that the attack on the airfield occurred on the night of September 7, 2026; a fire was recorded at 2:44 a.m. in the aircraft parking area. The report states that the airfield is located approximately 40 km from Ukraine’s state border.

“The airbase is actively used by the Russian army. The 325th Aircraft Repair Plant (Military Unit 23213) is located on its territory, which repairs transport aircraft and components for the Il-76,” the publication writes.

Analysts from the portal write that south of this airfield lies the factory airfield of the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex, where A-50U AWACS aircraft, Il-76 transport aircraft, and Il-38 patrol aircraft. The facility also modernizes and maintains aircraft for foreign customers.

It is precisely the A-50 and A-50U long-range early warning and control aircraft that form the backbone of Russia’s air defense.

The governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar, acknowledged this morning that a drone attack had taken place, during which more than two dozen drones were destroyed. According to him, no reports of casualties or damage had been received.
