Ukraine Destroyed A Russian Military Facility Near The Border With The Gomel Region

The Ukrainian Defense Forces reported that on September 4, their units struck a number of military targets in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast—which borders the Gomel Oblast—according to “Flagstok”.

An enemy radar station was struck in the village of Kartushin, and an electronic warfare complex was struck in the area of the urban settlement of Pogar.

Another of the targeted facilities is located in the immediate vicinity of the Gomel Region—in the town of Zlynka, near the Gomel–Bryansk highway. A MESH network repeater was destroyed there, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Details have not yet been specified. Earlier this year, reports had already emerged of the destruction of a MESH network used by “Shahed”-type drones to coordinate flights in central regions of Ukraine.

The ground control stations used for this network were located not only in Russia but also in Belarus, which facilitated the coordination of drone movements over long distances.

Subsequently, Ukraine announced the destruction of repeaters on Belarusian territory.

The MESH network relay station in Zlynka could have been used to coordinate the flight of drones, which have recently been moving almost nonstop along the Belarusian border, heading toward an attack on Kyiv. The last such flight was recorded on the morning of September 4. However, there have been no large-scale attacks on the Ukrainian capital for three days since then—due to the arrival of a U.S. delegation.

Installing a new repeater is straightforward and takes very little time, as an expert previously noted.
