Belarusian MFA accuses US Department of State of lying

Statements by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs become more and more absurd.

“The US Department of State gives the US Congress false information regarding the real situation in the world,” Belarusian MFA spokesman Andrei Savinykh told BelaPAN commenting on the report on measures to combat human trafficking in different countries.

According to Savinykh, specialists, who put Belarus on a human trafficking watchlist, based on “groundless and arbitrary evaluations”.

Savinykh reminded that according to UN member states and UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, Belarus takes effective measures to prevent trafficking in persons. “Specialists from the Department of State completely ignored the assessment given by the UN. This situation clearly demonstrates the biased and ideologically motivated character of the Department of State’s reports on human rights,” Savinaykh said.
