Rom Baro Standing Trial In Mahiliou

The baro was detained six months ago when they were looking for those involved in the disappearance of the traffic inspector Yauhen Patapovich.
On November 26, in Mahiliou, a trial in the case of the Rom Baro ‘Romka’, who was detained during the mass arrests in the Roma village of Chapayeuka six months ago, has started. Then the riot police was looked for those involved in the disappearance of the inspector of the traffic police Yauhen Patapovich, in the village. The police had reason to believe that the Roma diaspora was related to the disappearance of the inspector. A police raid took place in the Roma village of Chapayeuka, during which several dozen people were detained and questioned, euroradio.fm reports.
Later, the investigation came to the conclusion that Patapovich had sent a false message to his colleagues with a hint of his abduction, and then he scattered firewood around himself, took off his pants, tied his hands and shot himself from the official Makarov gun.
Soon the Roma were released, the head of the ruler’s Administration Natallia Kachanava arrived to apologize to them. But Raman Baranouski, nicknamed ‘Romka’, remained behind bars. He is accused of drug trafficking.
The trial of “Romka” is held behind closed doors - neither his mother, nor his wife, nor his sister were allowed into the courtroom. The women are waiting in the hallway for the information from the lawyer. They rely only on the head of the Presidential Administration, Natallia Kachanava, with whom they would like to meet so that she stands up for the Roma again - like six months ago. “God, God, help us,” Romka’s mother sobs and adds that he is no Rom Baro actually. Like, it was his father who was a baro, but they made the son a punching bag.
The man is accused of drug trafficking under Part 3 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The maximum penalty for it is up to 15 years in prison.
On May 16, it became known about the disappearance of the 22-year-old inspector of the road patrol service Yauhen Patapovich. His body was found in a forest three kilometers from Mahiliou. A criminal case was opened under the article “The murder of an employee of the internal affairs bodies in connection with the execution of his duties to protect public order”. Soon the Investigatory Committee came to the conclusion that Patapovich staged his murder, but in fact committed suicide.
