Belarus Is Among the Countries Working for Food

The results of the ranking have been published.
Belarus ranks 35th out of 40 European countries in terms of the share of household spending on food. In the list, the 1st place is taken by the country where the least amount is spent on food, and the 40th - where the most, thinktanks.by writes.
RIA Rating agency experts have prepared a rating of European countries in terms of the share of household spending on food. The smallest share of expenses on food is for the residents of Luxembourg, and the largest is for the residents of Kazakhstan. Belarus is in 35th place in the ranking.
In Belarus, the share of household spending on food is 35.8%. For comparison, in Luxembourg - 8.4%, in the Netherlands and Great Britain - 10.6%. Also, less than 12% of spending is spent on food by residents of Ireland, Germany, Finland, Austria, and Norway. In general, the top part of the ranking is made up of economically developed Western European countries.
The most significant share of spending on food in consumer spending is for citizens of the former USSR and Eastern European countries.
The outsider of the rating is Kazakhstan - 49.4% of the family budget is spent on food.
In all neighboring countries of Belarus, except Ukraine, the share of household spending on food is lower than ours. To a certain extent, this criterion is an indicator of the effectiveness of the economic policy pursued in the state.
Last year, Belarus also ranked 35th in this rating.
