"Like In Superhero Movies": "Woman Of Year" From Russia Admires Belarusian Women

Ekaterina Shulman has admitted that this is the first time she has seen such soulfulness and purity.

Recently Russian Glamour awarded statuettes to the women of the year who have succeeded in business and art despite objective difficulties, injustice and pandemics.

Political scientist and publicist Ekaterina Shulman, who has frequently commented on developments in Belarus in 2020, became one of the award winners. On the eve, in an interview to the publication, she summed up the results of the year, as well as answered what women she admires.

- This year it is Belarusian women, of course. I will not answer you any other way. We have seen something new, we have never seen anything like that.

It is not sacrifice, not suffering. This is some kind of extraordinarily active civic position, which at the same time expresses itself in an absolutely non-violent way.

It is strength of spirit, hard-hitting, which shows that if a person has made up his mind, nothing can be done to him. I haven't seen people like Maryja Kalesnikava before.

It is some kind of mental purity and mental strength at the same time - that is, of course, something new. We used to see it in superhero movies. And it turns out that it can be like that in reality.
