Belarus's Internal Public Debt Increased By Almost 20% For One Year

It puts a serious strain on the budget.
In 2021, the domestic public debt of Belarus increased by almost 20%, whereas the foreign debt decreased by 1.9%, the Belarusians and the Market website writes.
As a result, the national debt of Belarus amounted to Br58.3 billion on December 1, 2021, having increased by Br0.5 billion, or 0.9% compared to the beginning of 2021, reports the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
As of December 1, 2021, the external public debt amounted to $18.2 billion, having decreased by $0.4 billion (adjusted for exchange rate differences), or 2.1%.
In January-November 2021, the external public loans amounted to the equivalent of $ 1,164.9 million, repayment of the external public debt amounted to $ 1,515.6 million.
As of December 1, 2021, domestic public debt was 11.9 billion Belarusian rubles, having increased by 2.0 billion Belarusian rubles (adjusted for exchange rate differences), or by 20.0% since the beginning of the year.
In January-November 2021, the national currency and ruble-denominated domestic bonds for legal and natural persons worth USD1,237.7 million and BYR191.0 million equivalent were placed. Currency and ruble denominated government bonds for legal entities and individuals were redeemed for an amount equivalent to USD 333.1 million and RUB 145.0 million.
