Belarus Issues New Banknote

  • 20.06.2022, 20:10

What is the difference between the new ones and the existing ones that Belarusians use now?

From July 1, Belarus will issue a new banknote of 100-rouble value. The National Bank reported it.

“Issuance of new banknotes into circulation will be carried out as a part of the National Bank’s planned activities to update the design and security complex of banknotes issued in 2009, as well as to replace worn and damaged banknotes with banknotes fit for usage,” the National Bank said.

The design of the new banknote will be similar to those already in use.

At the same time, the regulator clarifies that the requisite “Starshynia Prauliennia” (Chairman of the Board) and the facsimile of the signature of the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Prakapovich P.P. will be excluded, as well as the year of the banknote sample “2009” will be replaced with the year of issue “2022”.

The image of the architectural structure on the front side (the Radziwill castle in Nesvizh) will also be updated on the banknote, and the name of the castle will be indicated.

“The security complex of the new banknote was developed on the basis of the security complex of the 100-ruble banknote in use. Some security elements were added, some were replaced or improved with modifications, and some were excluded. The updated security complex will provide reliable protection of banknotes from counterfeiting, while at the same time making it easier, faster and more accurate for citizens to verify their authenticity,” the National Bank clarifies.

The Goznak JSC (Russia) is the producer of the new banknotes.

The 2009 100-ruble banknotes remain legal tender.
