The Spanish national team won the World Cup, defeating Argentina 1–0 in the final and claiming its second gold star following its 2010 triumph.

U.S. President Donald Trump found himself at the center of online discussions after the final: he apparently refused to leave the stage after presenting the World Cup to the Spanish team.

This prompted FIFA President Gianni Infantino to rush over to Trump and insistently try to pull him away from the team. The photo went viral on social media and became a real meme.
