Invasion From Belarus: Political Scientist Cites Main Sign

The inspection of the Russian general might have a secret purpose.

The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Lukashenka is not an indication of the possible re-attack on Ukraine from the north. One should look at other signs.

Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko told Channel 24 about this. According to him, visits of Russian state or military officials are not a key factor.

Volodymyr Fesenko noted that the real threat from Belarus may be indicated by other signs.

"The key indicator of a possible offensive is a significant strengthening of the Russian military grouping specifically in Belarus," he explained.

According to him, the Belarusian military on their own or with the certain part of the Russian army will not go to the offensive.

In Fesenko's opinion, the real threat to Ukraine might come from the Russians' transfer of equipment and the military to Belarus.

"Yes, this would indicate the possibility of a new offensive," he added.

The political analyst said that so far the Russians have been frequently redeploying military equipment from Belarus to the East, i.e. to Donbass, where the Russians need it at the front line.

He also noted that the Russian leadership is now trying to inspect their troops on the territory of Belarus. It is possible that they are talking about secret negotiations with the Belarusian military about their further involvement in the war.

"If Belarus is dragged into the war, it's not now, but later," commented Fesenko.

According to the political scientist, now we can only talk about preparation activities.
