Peskov Speaks About Putin's Doubles

He also commented on the information about the serious illness of the head of the Russian Federation.

The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, on Tuesday commented on the increasingly popular theory that 71-year-old Vladimir Putin has serious health problems, and his double performs instead of him at public events.

According to Peskov, such information is a “canard” that falls into the category of “absurd” and, despite this, is “discussed with enviable tenacity” by a number of media outlets.

“There are no doubles,” Peskov said, adding that such reports only cause a “smile” in the Kremlin.

“That’s another canard,” Peskov said about the reports that appeared on the Internet that Putin had “heart problems” last weekend.

“Everything is fine with him,” RIA Novosti quotes Peskov as saying.

In April, Peskov already denied reports of Putin's health problems.

“You’ve probably heard that Putin has a lot of doubles who work for him while he sits in the bunker. Of course, he never sat in any bunkers. This is also a lie, and you see it, it’s all obvious,” Peskov said.

According to him, the common people refer to the coordination and analytical center of the government, the White House, as a “bunker.” “This is a phenomenal, high-tech space where the government sees everything that is happening in our country in real time,” Peskov said.
