Lukashists refused to accept a parcel with medicines for the political prisoner.
Political prisoner, activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was forcibly transferred to the Navinki mental health center. This was reported to Viasna by her husband Andrei Sharenda, who now lives with two minor sons in Vilnius. They learned that Palina was already in the examination department at the Navinki mental health center.
At the end of May, Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk renounced her citizenship of Belarus in protest against the harsh pressure and persecution in the colony. The administration of the colony, in response, decided to send her for a psychiatric-forensic examination.
According to Andrei Sharenda, Palina's mother managed to give her a food parcel — the political prisoner has not eaten fruits and vegetables for a year. However, the administration refused to accept the medicines, which are vital for the body of the political prisoner, referring to the fact that “we have everything here”. In fact, they didn’t take the parcel with medicines, because according to the Lukashists, “Palina behaved badly.”
Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was sentenced by the Lukashists to two years in prison. In April of this year, she received another year in prison under Article 411 of the Criminal Code (“Malicious disobedience to the demands of the administration of the correctional institution”). Later, another criminal case was initiated under a similar article.
