Russian Tourist ‘Taken Down A Notch’ In Belarus

The Russian was upset and named three reasons not to go to our country.

Travelers from all over the world come to visit us, especially in summer. And not all such trips leave positive impressions.

Assessing Belarus, the blogger of the Zen channel “My Favorite Travels” referred to “one friend” who went on a business trip and shared his impressions.

First, this friend noted the well-known pluses: cleanliness, safety, delicious food. But there were also a few “cons”.

Huge fines

Not everyone knows that in Russia it is not considered a violation to exceed the speed limit within 20 km/h. And those who come by car are sometimes shocked by Belarusian fines, because we have an acceptable limit of 10 km/h.

“I was unpleasantly surprised by the huge fines for violation of traffic rules. In Belarus there is no grace period for paying fines (in fact, there is — edit.) Moreover, the employees of the road inspectorate do not make concessions to reduce the amount of payment,” the traveler is indignant.

Difficulties with mobile communication

Here, the tourist’s problem was not at all that somewhere the communication was poor.

“During a business trip, a friend wanted to buy a Belarusian card for mobile communications. I was unpleasantly surprised by the small number of tariff proposals for non-residents of the country. For local residents, there are many profitable options. Russians are deprived of the opportunity to choose an economical tariff. The price of mobile communications for customers from Russia is much higher than for Belarusians,” says the Russian.

Expensive utilities

The true reason for the business trip was also revealed — a visitor from the Russian Federation wanted to buy an apartment in Belarus, but something went wrong.

“Having learned the details about the payment of utilities, I abandoned the original plans. It turned out that utility bills are three times higher if no one is registered in the apartment. This amount is much more than in Russia,” the blogger noted.
