Zmitser Dashkevich Thrown Into Punishment Cell

Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich was thrown into a punishment cell.

“They were holding Zmitser in a punishment cell from his first day at the Zhodzdina pre-trial detention center. He is forced to be there, as he refuses to go to the cell with the rapists, where they are trying to put him,” his friends reported on social media, according to nashaniva.com.

Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich was to walk free the week before last after 16 months behind bars. But he was left behind bars under Article 411 of the Criminal Code (Malicious disobedience to the demands of administration of the correctional institution).

“Zmitser was supposed to get out today. But he was “released” from penal colony #14 and was arrested under Article 411 (disobedience to the demands of administration). I do not know what to say to the children who are waiting for their father at home in the morning. I don’t know…” Nasta Dashkevich wrote on Facebook on July 11.

A year ago, Zmitser Dashkevich and his wife Nasta were accused of participating in a protest on August 23, 2020. On July 14, 2022, Zmitser was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, and Nasta to 3 years of home arrest.
