Russia is looking for a new reason to revive active operations from the north.
In September of this year, a series of joint drills of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) controlled by the Kremlin will take place in Belarus. LTG Serhiy Naev, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said.
The aggressor country Russia can use the drills to legitimize the buildup of a military presence on the territory of Belarus.
“A number of joint CSTO drills - Echelon, Poisk (“Search”), Vzaimodeistvie (”Interaction”) - are planned in Belarus. They can use it as a legitimization of the build-up of the military presence. Considering that Russia has not yet achieved its strategic goals, we can’t exclude that it will search for new reasons for the resumption of active combat operations from the north in the future. So the provocations and sabotage on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border are not excluded,” Naev said.
Naev assured that the situation on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is fully controlled, there are no grounds for drastic changes. At the same time, the Russian occupiers completely withdrew their ground forces from Belarus and sent some of them to the reserve, and some of them sent them on the offensive in the Kupyansk-Lyman front.
