Former CIA Head Predicts When Ukraine Will Be Able To Go On Offensive

He is confident in the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces if the allies provide the necessary funding.

With U.S. funding and support and the endurance of its people, Ukraine could contain the Russian advance and launch a counteroffensive in late 2024 or early 2025. This was stated by the ex-director of the CIA, General David Petraeus, at the XVI Kyiv Security Forum.

— In the end, everything will also depend on the external support of Ukraine, but first of all we are talking about the endurance of the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian people. This is your fight for independence, and it is absolutely possible that if all the factors are in place, Ukraine will be able to hold off Russian advances in the near future, and at the end of this year or the beginning of next year it will even be able to launch an offensive against Russian troops,” he said.

Petraeus is also convinced that the aid package for Ukraine will be approved in the US House of Representatives, because this issue has serious bipartisan support in the US Congress.

“No matter what mechanisms are required for this, what the numbers are, this package will be very significant and this will make it possible to make a big advance before the end of this year, at the beginning of the next,” the general is confident.
