Details.
The U.S. Navy has withdrawn all warships from the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. This is evidenced by data of the US Naval Institute.
It is noted that until December, the missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius, which is permanently based at the Spanish naval base Rota, was in the region. However, at the beginning of the month, the ship was transferred to the Atlantic, where it took part in joint exercises with the Moroccan Navy.
Other U.S. ships in the Mediterranean, including the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford and three destroyers, back in November were sent to the Caribbean Sea area north of Venezuela. A group of 11 U.S. Navy warships is currently based there.
The largest U.S. ship grouping remains the 7th Operating Fleet, stationed in the Western Pacific. It includes two aircraft carriers, missile destroyers and landing ships.
