It Became Known Why Parubiy Was Without State Protection

An official announcement has surfaced.

The State Protection Directorate of Ukraine has said that former officials are entitled to state protection for one year after completing their term of office if there is no court conviction against them.

The Directorate said this in the social network Facebook.

The Department noted that in accordance with Article 6 "Ensuring the security of officials" of the Law of Ukraine "On State Protection of State Authorities of Ukraine and Officials" No. 160/98-VR of March 4, 1998, in places of permanent and temporary stay, security is provided for: the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Prime Minister, Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Chairman of the Supreme Court, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prosecutor General

In addition, during the term of office of the officials mentioned in this article, the security of their family members living with them or accompanying them is also ensured.

"After termination of their powers, these officials shall be provided with state protection for ONE YEAR, except in cases of entry into legal force of a guilty verdict against them," the report says.

The UGO statement neither confirms nor denies the fact of Andriy Parubiy's request for state protection, nor does it mention whether the refusal actually took place.

Earlier the Deputy from "European Solidarity" Vladimir Aryev said that the former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy even six months before his murder appealed with a request to provide him with state protection, but he was denied.

We will recall that on August 30 in Lviv, an unknown assailant killed Andriy Parubiy. It is noted that seven shell casings were found at the scene. The attacker was dressed as a delivery courier.
