Zelensky Urged Trump To Take Decisive Action

The US is strong enough to put pressure on Putin.

The United States should decisively crack down on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and impose a powerful package of sanctions against Russia.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this, according to Sky News.

Zelensky also urged the US leader to take "decisive personal action" to "stop Putin" after Donald Trump called on NATO allies to stop buying Russian oil and impose duties on China to put pressure on Moscow.

"I believe that the US is strong enough to make independent decisions. I believe that Donald Trump can provide us with air defense systems in the necessary quantity, and the US has enough of them," he said.

The Ukrainian president is also confident that the US can apply enough sanctions to harm the Russian economy, and Trump has enough power to make Putin afraid.

"Europe has already imposed 18 packages of sanctions against Russia. And now the only thing missing is a powerful package of sanctions from the US," Zelensky said.

The head of state added that during the recent summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska, Mr. Trump "gave Putin a lot" and is convinced that "he should have paid more for it."

"I believe that if it had been a trilateral meeting (with Ukraine's participation. - ed.), we would have achieved some result," Zelensky added.
