  • 10.10.2026, 11:13

Will it be possible to stop the war before winter?

There will be no further round of talks in Miami involving representatives from Ukraine, Europe, and the United States. The talks concluded early.

This was reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s senior correspondent in Washington, Alex Raufoglu.

Sources told the journalist that there will be no negotiations the next day.

“The negotiations in Miami ended earlier than planned. There won’t be any the next day,” Raufoglu wrote.

Talks in Miami

As a reminder, representatives from the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, the European Commission, Ukraine, and NATO held talks in Miami on de-escalation and ending the war with Russia before winter sets in.

Part of the discussion focused on the most critical issues: how to prepare for winter, maintain the stability of the energy grid, and ensure grain exports.

The parties discussed security guarantees and long-term agreements designed to protect Ukraine and Europe from future wars. A separate topic of discussion was Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction, its economic growth, and its accession to the EU.

U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Whitcoff called the talks productive. According to him, they helped identify issues that need to be worked out before the next U.S. engagement with Russia.

At the same time, it was reported that the U.S. Treasury Department has authorized shipments of Russian diesel fuel—sanctions on it have been lifted until April 7, 2027.

Russia will supply millions of metric tons of diesel fuel to the U.S. and global markets. The U.S. Treasury Department is already issuing a temporary license that will allow the aggressor country to begin shipments.
