The President of Ukraine is leading the country during a war for independence, freedom, and dignity.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is leading the country “during a time of war—a war for independence, freedom, and dignity”—and deserves our support. This was stated on Saturday, October 10, by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, in response to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump. Earlier the White House chief had expressed the view that a new president must be found to replace Zelenskyy, one who could “strike a deal” to end the war in Ukraine, according to "Deutsche Welle".

Zelenskyy “enjoys the support of the Ukrainian people,” and it is the people who “have the right to make decisions,” Sibiga emphasized.

“Statements from abroad only confirm that he (Volodymyr Zelenskyy. — Ed.) is doing an excellent job fulfilling his duties,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry concluded.

London stands in solidarity with Kyiv

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in turn, “reaffirmed full solidarity” with Kyiv during a phone call with the Ukrainian leader. The British Prime Minister’s office released a statement to that effect shortly after Trump’s remarks. It is unknown whether Burnham and Zelenskyy discussed the White House chief’s comments.

German Minister Speaks of “Moral Bankruptcy”

German Minister for Family Affairs Karin Prien (Karin Prien)—the first member of the German government to do so—commented on the White House chief’s statements. “For the sake of a few liters of diesel fuel. What a moral bankruptcy,” she wrote on her personal account on social media platform X.

According to Donald Trump, the U.S. told Zelenskyy that he “can do whatever he wants with Russia,” but should not strike oil refineries because that is a “global issue.” However, the strikes on oil refineries have not stopped, Trump emphasized. “He (Zelensky—Ed.) wants to create problems for the world. He wants to create problems for our farmers because of diesel fuel, since Russia supplies a significant portion of the world’s diesel fuel. He (Zelensky—Ed.) had better, damn it, stop this (attacks on refineries—Ed.),” the American leader added.
