Lukashenko Came Up With A Wild Theory About A Provocation On The Border With Latvia

Riga, according to the dictator, “staged a provocation against itself.”
Dictator Alexander Lukashenko stated, that the incident on the Belarusian-Latvian border was allegedly staged by the Latvian security services themselves. According to him, this—as well as reports of possible acts of aggression by the Russian Federation, including from Belarusian territory—is driven by the neighbors’ desire to secure funding for military purposes.
“We know this very well—I’ve already been briefed on it—that the Latvians themselves staged this as a pretext to secure funding from the European Union. We have absolutely nothing to do with this—that we infiltrated their territory—masked men, soldiers—who seized someone, captured them, or herded some group of migrants in there. You couldn’t come up with a bigger piece of nonsense,” the dictator stated at a meeting following an inspection of the combat readiness of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops, according to his press service.
As a reminder, Latvia had previously reported a provocation on the border with Belarus. First, people dressed in black, with their faces hidden behind masks and presumably armed, pushed foreigners onto the Latvian side. Later, the same individuals crossed the border and stole surveillance cameras, after which they returned to Belarusian territory. A couple of days later, a video appeared online on behalf of an organization called “Black Rus”, which claimed responsibility for the incident.
Thus, Lukashenko is asking us to believe that Latvia itself pushed migrants onto its territory, stole its own cameras, and filmed the “responsibility” video—all for the sake of EU money. At the same time, armed men in masks crossed the border from Belarus, and the video from Minsk certainly does not look like someone’s random amateur effort.
